SINGAPORE: Since Wolfgang's Steakhouse opened in Singapore in 2017, it is the only steakhouse we go to for birthdays and other special occasions. In our opinion, this is the best steakhouse serving excellent dry-aged steaks. Every steak is dry-aged onsite in the restaurant for 28 days. Using only USDA certified prime grade beef, about only 3% of beef in the USA, you can be assured every bite is going to be amazing.
As you walk into the restaurant, you will notice an impressive wine cellar, with supposedly a carefully selected list of both new and old age wines. I have never tried any, but I am sure this is an exciting collection for wine lovers. With walnut floors and white tablecloths, it is a classic American Steakhouse. However, it does feel like Morton's, The Steakhouse.
We have been there a few times a year, and usually, we start with half a dozen Fresh Oysters on The Half Shells (S$MarketPrice) as we wait eagerly to have our main.
We always have their Lobster Bisque (S$26), but I suggest splitting the soup for two to share if you like other starters. Their lobster bisque is full of seafood flavour, and within this creamy soup, you also get some chunks of lobsters. In addition, we always get some extra warm onion rolls to dip into the soup. It is simply heavenly good.
The other starter we love is their Fresh Mozzarella and Beefsteak Tomatoes (S$28). Beefsteak tomatoes have no beef, and it just means that it is thick-cut. The creamy cheese balanced out the acidity of the fresh tomatoes is refreshing good.
The Porterhouse Steak for two or more is the only main we have ordered. The porterhouse steak comes for two (S$216), for three (S$308) or for four (S$392). If you are a big eater, going for three is totally possible. Sometimes, two of us will order the portion for three. Then, when we can't finish, we will pack it and have it like cold cuts the next day.
The Porterhouse Steak is served on a sizzling plate with melted butter. If you are one of those who love their steaks with some char, do remember to let the staff know when you place your order. The steak is already cut into thick pieces before it is brought to the table. The smell of the aged beef with the melted butter is euphoria. The staff placed two pieces of the steak onto my warm plate together with my side, which can be the baked potato or broccoli. She then got some of the melted butter and dripped it on my steak. Each bite of the steak is filled with intense beefy flavour, which I will never forget.
For the sides, we tried the following, and we loved them all. The only complaint we have is the serving size is too big, making it impossible for us to try a variety when there are just two of us.
Baked Potatoes (S$18) with Bacon Chunks (S$8)
Creamed Spinach (S$17)
Asparagus (S$20)
Brocolli (S$17)
If you are heading to Wolfgang's Steakhouse for lunch, their lunch menu has other opinions such as loco moco, sandwiches and burgers.
I have tried the burger with a patty using the same prime beef, served with a side of onion rings. Personally, if I go to Wolfgang's Steakhouse, I am there for the steak and not a burger. There are better burger places if a burger is what you want. Nevertheless, it is not a bad burger.
The Classic Wolfgang Burger (S$26) comes with fries and onion rings. However, cheddar cheese (S$3) and bacon (S$8) will be an additional charge. There are other toppings too
Egg (S$3)
Blue Cheese (S$5)
Avocado (S$3)
Sauteed Onions (S$4)
Sauteed Mushroom (S$5)
I have been coming here for years and have never left me disappointed. So I guess we will continue to go to my favourite steakhouse for years to come.
