Foodie Enclave just got better with Blu Kouzina at Siglap

SINGAPORE: For the longest time, East Coast Road has been dotted with hippy cafes, restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world; and amazing coffee shops with Singapore delights such as laksa, minced meat noodles, chicken rice and Fried Hokkien Mee. However, the majority are located around the Katong and Joo Chiat area.

Now with the opening of Blu Kouzina at Siglap, where there is a concentration of spas and restaurants, Foodies all over Singapore have another option to hang out for the day. Flanked by Kota88, serving Indonesian Chinese food; Hippy Cafes such as Five Oars Coffee Roaster and La Fez Cafe. Then, a few blocks down at Frankel Avenue, you get even more options to choose from.

Siglap is the second location for this international restaurant chain which originated in Singapore. The other location is in Dempsey Hill. They serve authentic Greek food prepared with extra virgin olive oil from their family-owned Olive Grove Estate in Messinia, Greece. It’s a great place to spend the evening with your friends after having a massage at NatureLand, next door.

Greek Restaurant in Singapore

To start, we went for the evergreen, which can be eaten in every Mediterranean meal.

  • Hummus Dip S$15.8 - Tahini, organic chickpea and extra virgin olive oil

  • Grilled Pita S$3.9 - Oregano and sea salt

For the main course,

  • Xtapodi S$39.8 - grilled octopus with vinegar & Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Meat Platter (Small) S$58.8 - 2 lamb meatballs, 1 beef kalamaki, 1 organic chicken skewer & 2 lamb chops

We got the beautifully grilled octopus with the crunchy bits from the tentacles. I love the char and smoky flavour, which you will never get enough of.

Medium rare for our protein is perfect! Even the chicken is soft and juicy, which you will only get from chefs who know what they are doing.

To end the meal with a dessert, we went for the suggestion by our server, Uncle Bob.

  • Bougatsa $16.8 - Phyllo (Filo) pastry filled with semolina cream, powdered with icing sugar & cinnamon. Best serve hot.

Finally, for the road, a shot of Skinos. It's an easy drink with a sweet tone.

Skinos Mastiha Spirit is an authentic premium Greek spirit made from the Mastiha Tree, only found on Sikinos Island. I would definitely recommend this if you want to have a good time!
